P-39 AIRACOBRA was a single-engine, metal low-wing, with a three-support undercarriage with a front wheel. The barrel of a large-caliber cannon is placed in a hollow propeller shaft. The early versions of the aircraft, however, did not meet the requirements of the battlefield of the time. After many modifications and rebuilds, the version was produced D which went to five coalition countries. Most aircraft produced P-39 was included in the aviation of the United States and the Soviet Union. According to the pilots, the plane was difficult to pilot, not very popular, but it won many victories, especially on the Eastern Front.
The developed models can be made in four versions of painting. Three versions P-39D-1 : a skeleton on a bomb, a skull wearing a helmet, "Miss Hellen the Flying Jenny", took part in the campaign in New Guinea (1942-1943). Airplane version P-39K-1 fought on the Eastern Front, Caucasus, pilot Captain AI Pokryshkin (White 13). The kit allows you to build two models of planes, out of the four mentioned above.
Development of the substantive and graphic model - Waldemar Kalinowski. The model is a modification of the 2009 model of the KW publishing house. The modification includes: changing the shape of the fuselage, changing the logic of assembling the cockpit and glazing, new propeller and hubcap, changing the internal structure of the wings and fuselage, changing the assembly logic of the center wing, details of the hatchways and landing gear legs, completely new graphics, the color of the intruder is specific to the Bell label (Bell Grenn), the font of the letters and numbers are selected on the basis of the photographs of the copies being the subject of the study.
Building the model is a difficult job. It is a challenge especially for beginner modelers. During work, additional elements can be used, e.g. foil stamped cab fairings, turned chassis wheels, which will facilitate the construction and increase the aesthetics of the model.
The project is prepared very carefully using computer technology. Attention should be paid to the signs of wear and tear on the plane's surfaces designed by the author. The cutout is printed with the offset technique. This allows and is recommended to apply a colorless varnish on the colored pages before cutting them out. The set includes two sets of laser cut elements for both selected, built planes. Their use significantly facilitates the work and eliminates cumbersome activities during construction.
The model consists of:
- covers (illustration P-39D Airacobra - Zbigniew Kolacha - 2019);
- description (9 A3 pages, description in four languages);
- assembly drawings (4 pages A3);
- frame templates for self-cutting (2 A3 pages);
- colored sheets with cutting parts (5 A3 pages);
- cardboard with laser cut parts (2 A3 pages);
- cardboard 1 mm (1 side A3);
- illustration ( Fairey Barracuda Mk II - Jaros³aw Wróbel - 1997).
The author of the project: Waldemar Kalinowski, illustrations - Zbigniew Kolacha, Jaros³aw Wróbel.

The Bell P-39 Airacobra is an American, single-engine, metal fighter plane with a classic tail in the low wing configuration with a three-wheeled undercarriage. The flight of the prototype took place on April 6, 1938, serial production was carried out in 1940-1944. Despite its conventional appearance, the Bell P-39 Airacobra was a unique design among US Army fighters during World War II, the first with a front wheel. This solution was dictated by the need to install heavy weapons in the nose part of the aircraft, which in turn corresponded to the expectations of the mid-1930s related to ensuring high firepower. In early 1935, the management of Bell Aircraft Corporation was present at the demonstration of the American Armament Corporation - T9 caliber 37 mm. Stunned by the results of the show, it led to the commencement of construction work on a fighter plane using a T9 cannon firing through the propeller hub and additionally equipped with two 12.7mm machine guns installed in the nose part of the fuselage and synchronized with the rotation of the propeller. The decision made to locate the cannon in the nose of the machine imposed the placement of the engine inside the fuselage. The propeller was driven by a long shaft located under the cabin floor. Such an installation of the engine, almost exactly in the center of gravity of the aircraft, entailed the need to use a three-wheeled undercarriage with a front wheel. The first major order for the 369 P-39 was placed in September 1940, and shipments began approximately seven months later. At the same time, the first export units ordered by the British began to leave the production line. They were to replace the worn-out Hawker Hurricane machines. Ultimately, however, the largest foreign recipient turned out to be the Soviet Union, which received about 4,700 aircraft, where the total number of assembled P-39s of all versions slightly exceeded 9,500. Technical data (P-39Q version): length: 9.2 m, wingspan: 10 , 4 m, height: 3.8 m, maximum speed: 605 km / h, speed of climb: 19 m / s, maximum range: 840 km, practical ceiling: 10700 m, armament: fixed - 4 7.62 mm M1919 machine guns, 2 machine guns M2 12.7mm caliber and 1 M4 37mm cannon, suspended - up to 230 kg of bombs.
